— FUNERALS

The grief of the death of a loved one is one of life's greatest challenges.  It is our privilege to support you on that journey of saying goodbye.

The clergy at Holy Trinity Cathedral are available to meet and pray with you, and to assist in the planning of a funeral service. The Cathedral offers several venues for funeral or memorial services - the Cathedral Nave or Chancel, the Bishop Selwyn Chapel, or St Mary's-in-Holy Trinity.  In addition, St Stephen's Chapel, Judge's Bay, can accommodate small funerals.

Funeral services are based on the Order of Service in A New Zealand Prayer Book /He Karakia Mihinare O Aotearoa.  At the heart of that service is an expression of Christian hope.  The introduction to the service says Christians have always believed that there is hope in death, as in life, and that there is renewed life in Christ after death.

f you wish to discuss holding a funeral service at Holy Trinity Cathedral, please contact your chosen funeral director in the first instance. If you have any questions about the Cathedral venues, you are welcome to contact us by email below.

— MEMORIALS

Sometimes, the appropriate time to farewell a loved one might not be immediately after their passing. This may be due to the difficulty of gathering those who would wish to be present but live far away or have other constraints which make the immediacy of a funeral difficult.

In some circumstances, a memorial service might suit you and your community better. If you wish to discuss holding a memorial serivce at Holy Trinity Cathedral, please contact your chosen funeral director in the first instance.

— COLUMBARIA - INTERMENT OF ASHES

The Holy Trinity Cathedral precinct offers the opportunity for the permanent memorial of loved ones.  in The Trinity Garden, adjacent to St Mary's-in-Holy Trinity and in front of the Bishop Selwyn Chapel, includes five columbaria for the interring of ashes.  The Trinity Garden is also home to a grass labyrinth and quiet spaces for contemplation and remembrance.  You are always welcome.

We would be glad to meet with you to discuss possibilities for remembrance here at Holy Trinity Cathedral.
